90% of the time you'll ever spend with your parents is already behind you, so it can be confusing what role they should play in your life. Are they still all up in your business, making decisions for you - or do they feel distant and unengaged? Whether you have a great or strained relationship with your parents, come find out why we need to be independent but still honor, serve, care for, and love them well.
Questions to consider:
- What do you currently love and respect about your parents?
- What are some frustrations that you currently have with your parents?
- What do you think are the frustrations they might have with you?
- Which of the mentioned parents descriptions connects most with your experience growing up?
- What are ways you’ve experienced either yourself or others act more like a child needing a parent rather than an adult living independently?
- How do you think these clarifying conversations with your parents will benefit your relationship with them?
- In what ways have you felt pressure from your parents to take a certain path in life?
