Jacqui Hurley is an Irish athlete, sports broadcaster and chat show host for RTE, having previously played at the highest level in both basketball and camogie. She is the co presenter of Sunday Sport on RTE Radio 1 and presents the sports news on RTE Television. She has recently written her book, ‘Girls Play Too’, aiming to promote women in sport.
We discuss her background and love of sport, why it is important that the landscape is changing regarding female participation, the evolution of playing sports into the media, and her experiences covering two Olympic Games. We also discuss the low points - Jacqui lost her brother Sean at 25 in a tragic accident, and her family uniting to honor his bucket list. We also discussed the injuries of her sporting career and how that affected her.
