Catecismo da Igreja Católica: 234. O mistério da Santíssima Trindade é o mistério central da fé e da vida cristã. É o mistério de Deus em si mesmo. E, portanto, a fonte de todos os outros mistérios da fé e a luz que os ilumina. É o ensinamento mais fundamental e essencial na «hierarquia das verdades da fé». «Toda a história da salvação não é senão a história do caminho e dos meios pelos quais o Deus verdadeiro e único, Pai, Filho e Espírito Santo, Se revela, reconcilia consigo e Se une aos homens que se afastam do pecado». 2655. A missão de Cristo e do Espírito Santo que, na liturgia sacramental da Igreja anuncia, atualiza e comunica o mistério da salvação, prossegue no coração de quem ora. Os Padres espirituais comparam, por vezes, o coração a um altar. A oração interioriza e assimila a liturgia, durante e depois da sua celebração. Mesmo quando vivida «no segredo» (Mt 6, 6), a oração é sempre oração da Igreja; é comunhão com a Santíssima Trindade.
Catechism of the Catholic Church: 234. The mystery of the Most Holy Trinity is the central mystery of the Christian faith and life. It is the mystery of God in itself. It is, therefore, the source of all other mysteries of faith and the light that illuminates them. It is the most fundamental and essential teaching in the "hierarchy of the truths of the faith". "The whole history of salvation is nothing but the story of the way and the means by which the true and unique God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, reveals Himself, reconciles with himself and unites himself with men who turn away from sin". 2655. The mission of Christ and the Holy Spirit which, in the Church's sacramental liturgy announces, updates and communicates the mystery of salvation, continues in the heart of those who pray. Spiritual Fathers sometimes compare the heart to an altar. Prayer internalizes and assimilates the liturgy, during and after its celebration. Even when lived "in secret" (Mt 6, 6), prayer is always the Church's prayer; it is communion with the Most Holy Trinity.
