One of my most frequently asked questions is "I want to become a psychologist, what do I need to do?" or some variation of that question. This episode is targeted specifically for individuals who are considering becoming a psychologist (or other mental health professional) and what to know what it takes or the process of applying to graduate school. Even if you aren't in that target audience, I hope you get something out of this episode.
I discuss general steps that it takes to be a psychologist [in the United States], the differences and similarities between a PhD and PsyD, and applying to graduate school in psychology. I also give some [unsolicited] pieces of advice regarding getting a doctorate versus reasons to stop at the master's level.
