Mae Lou was... my maternal grandmother. My maternal grandmother (Mae Lou Pauley) Sampson was a phenomenal woman. She was beautiful, intelligent, strong, strong-willed, kind, and just everything to our family. She was born March 31, 1920, in Graves Chapel, Arkansas. She wasn't a saint, no real person is or was, but she was real and unapologetically herself. She loved people in the best way that any person born in the 20's could. She didn't say "I love you" but she showed you through providing for you and that provision could be anything from fresh chicken to moral support. Maybe this is where I get it from.
This week I am honoring her through recorded conversations and memories between some of my family members about her. We have a huge family and I wasn't able to get everyone, but I hope that this gives everyone a chance to hear another's perspective on this great lady.
As always, the music for this show is from the very talented Penn Davis. Check out his Instagram Page @Penndavis. He is working on a new album and has some very entertaining freestyles on his stories and page there. The official art for the show is from the very talented Michaela Adams.
Check out the social media pages for the show this week for interactive opportunities. I'm on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram all as @thisyeariturn40. I'll have some pictures and memories on these pages this week commemorating my grandma's birthday.
