Meet my friend Caleb Bannister with whom I crisscrossed the globe and covered many miles in the last five years.
Caleb was adopted as a baby and we talk about his experiences growing up between continents, learning to forgive his biological parents, and the journey of embracing and celebrating his cultural identity. We talk about what it takes for people from different cultures to work and live together.
Some of our talking points:
- First introductions with South Africa being part of a multi-cultural team
- Caleb shares his story of being abandoned as a baby, adopted by a Canadian missionary family and his experience growing up being from Africa.
- His first awareness of being different and how people perceived him as being black
- His awareness and calling to be a voice for both sides: white people and black people
- His journey discovering his Masai roots and how he was perceived by the Masai people.
- Caleb's thoughts on the potential and the wealth in the African youth and being a father figure to many.
- His experiences being a part of a multi-cultural team travelling the world.
- Caleb's journey of forgiveness towards his biological family for abandoning him.
