Working through a negative thought:

  1. Identify the trigger (situation): 
  2. Identify the automatic negative thought (ANT):
  3. Identify the thinking trap (from the cognitive distortions list):
  4. How strongly do I believe this ANT from 1-100?
  5. Where’s the proof this is real/happening?
  6. With this proof, what does it tell me?
  7. How can I reframe this with a positive automatic thought (PAT):
