Description

Spiritual bypassing describes a tendency to use spiritual explanations to avoid complex psychological issues. In this episode, we cite our source for the definition, as well as how unhealthy this can be. We give personal examples of how we overcame bypassing in our own healing, and provide  ways to clue in to when you might be using this practice unknowingly. We discuss how avoiding feelings, believing traumatic events must have a "silver lining", believing spiritual practices are always positive, and focusing only on spiritual practices and ignoring the present - to name a few - can be detrimental to being in touch with one's self. It's a jam-packed episode with a lively discussion and you won't want to miss it!

**Trigger Warning: Kellie discusses (not in graphic detail) her sexual assault, and the steps she took toward healing. We respect that this is a sensitive topic, and that everyone's journey to healing from such trauma is different. She shares her experience only in the hopes that speaking out may help someone else break their own silence.
