Description

Martha Rose Isiderio-Gutierrez is a special education teacher in Tucson, Arizona. A Filipina who hails from Bacolod City,  she has experience working with children with special needs ages 3-16 for 15 years.  Currently,  she is a 6th Grade Inclusion teacher and IEP advocate of Pistor Middle School, Tucson, Arizona.  An active civic-oriented person herself, who wants to make a difference and lead others to live a better life,   Martha talks about her pathway to the US as a special education teacher,  the challenges she has faced,   the huge disparity in the culture,  attitudes, and behavior of students in the United States, and the adjustments she needed to make along the way.  In this interview, Martha also shares a lot of tips for Filipino teachers who would want to teach in the US.
