The recent murders of Asian women at the hand of a white man who identifies as Christian and believes himself to be "addicted" to sex, led us to talk this week about the myth of sex and porn addiction. According to the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors and Therapists (AASECT), theories of sex addiction are not adequately backed up by sexological research. Rachel shares more about this in today's episode as we discuss the dangers of how sex addiction and porn addiction are taught in Christian circles.
You can find the AASECT position on sex addiction here: https://www.aasect.org/position-sex-addiction
If you or a loved one are experiencing compulsive behavior around pornography use consider checking out Rachel's mini-program, The Pornography Detox. You can find more about it and purchase here: https://www.sexwithspirit.com/pornography-detox-1
As always, we talk about sensitive topics so be mindful of who's nearby if you're listening without headphones.
