Look, let’s be honest, there will always be men and women who equate our victory that we have as believers in God through Jesus Christ as a life that is winning. This equity comes in the form of superficiality and emotionalism. They speak of winning, overcoming, or victory as if it is a lifestyle of vanity built around financial and material favor from God. The more we mature in Christ through the Word of Christ the less we look at God as a geni in a bottle, and come to set our affections on the things in heaven and less on the things of earth. 1 John 5:4-5 plainly lets us know that our victory over the world lies in our faith in God, and not in ourselves.
