Description

One of the major reasons for the mass immigration to the New World from places in Europe, aside from riches and exploration, was the option to practice religion more freely. Away from the restraints of Catholicism or Protestantism, these new settlers could experiment with new versions of old religions. This led to some rough patches, see the Salem Witch Trials, but it also led to some of the biggest names in modern religious history, many of them men. But amidst that ever-changing landscape, a group of women - or perhaps more appropriately, two young girls and their adult sister - etched their names into the history books alongside those men. Their names were Leah, Maggie, and Kate, and they were the Fox Sisters.
