Welcome to episode 23 of the Maine-Ly Basketball Podcast! This episode features former Grayson Ram, Benedict standout, Machias star and current junior at UMA, Eric Crawford! Basketball is in Eric’s DNA, with a father in the league and many other family members being talented in the sport, there was no doubt hoops would be a big part of his life. Starting in Seattle, he started as a sharp shooter who developed into his athletic frame & skill set as time went on. He progressed steadily as time went on, seeing the biggest steps when entering the AAU circuit in 9th-10th grade, he often showed out and played against some elite level talent holding his own. Injuries, coaching methods and some self doubt, Eric went through hard times through high school and the beginning of college, sometimes even wondering if he wanted to play the sport. With a strong mental psyche and a heavily supportive family/friend circle, he was able to surpass everything thrown at him and proved himself to be a successful ball player when given the chance at Machias. Now with years left of eligibility, Eric will continue to show why he should be taken seriously and that he can take his talents to the next level & beyond college! Besides basketball, Eric discusses a business many others including himself are creating to help display talents of local players and others around the world who don’t get the best shot in the world!
