Description

For this episode we’re sharing Jason Miller’s conversation with KOGT radio station owner Gary Stelly who purchased the AM station in 1992 and was known as the Voice of Orange for 30 years until the station’s closing in 2022.

The interview was featured on the premiere season of Bayoulands in 2016 and includes discussion of the history of KOGT and its role in the Orange County community and the origins of the kitschy jingle “Orange, My Home Town.” Stick around after their conversation to hear the song.

Our thanks to Gary Stelly. Orange Mayor, Larry Spears Jr. will present Gary with a key to the City in honor of his contribution to the community on February 10th,  2023 at Riverside Pavilion in Orange.

Bayoulands TALKS is produced in the studios of 91.3 KVLU Public Radio in Beaumont, Texas by Shannon Harris and Jason M. Miller. You can hear the radio show every 4th Sunday at 5pm on 91.3 FM and online at kvlu.org.

Thanks for listening.
