We’re previewing the upcoming Bayoulands radio episode with a remembrance of jazz guitarist and native Port Arthuran Zachary Breaux who tragically died at the age of 36 while trying to save a swimmer on February 20th, 1997, 26 years ago today.

The next Bayoulands radio show will air this Sunday, February 26th at 5pm and will include musical selections, an interview with Zachary Breaux’s widow and a conversation we’re sharing with you today from guest contributor Willie Carrierre with local jazz guitarist, Jeff Simon, a friend and contemporary of Zachary Breaux and a member of the Jazz Innovators who shared the stage with many great jazz musicians from southeast Texas and beyond.

You can view an exhibit highlighting the career of Zachary Breaux in the Music Hall of Fame at the Museum of the Gulf Coast located at 700 Procter Street in Port Arthur.
