Description

Drake von Trapp is a multi-award winning instructor and performer from Texas, with a diverse dance background and high energy performances, from sultry, sinewy smoothness to high jumping, shimmy-twerk magic that will surely hypnotize and mesmerize!  He's recently released his research on masculine and male-identified dancers within the realm of bellydance and fusion world dance--Transnational Fusion Dance, World Fusion Dance, Raqs Sharqi, MENAHT and folkloric/regional dance stylizations.

Today we get to visit about his research, spanning about 20 years of Transnational Fusion dance history and featuring stories and information from some of the male and/or masculine-identified luminaries therein.  We also chat a bit about gender terminology and how our dance community is coming to terms with the evolution and education of these terms and subjects.

For more info on MENAHT dance, and the issues being discussed around the term "bellydance", please check out video: https://youtu.be/2U_GoK8MSgo

Show my professional performer guests some love by visiting their social media, taking some online class offerings, watching some upcoming online showcases, or even sending them cashola for their time and expertise on this channel--details below for supporting your local (and otherwise;) artists!
