HOA's (Home Owner's Associations) and POA's (Property Owners Associations) are a common community site in Northeastern Pennsylvania.
They are all over the Pocono Mountain Region. They all advertise the greatness of living there as opposed to living outside a private-community environment.
But what many people don't realize are all the negatives with them -- that most of the time, the negative outweigh the positives of living in one of these communities. They are controlling, demanding, money hungry and will make most of you regret ever buying in there, especially when you've been in there 20 years or more.
The homeowners are given a false sense of having control over the community and being able to do what they feel is what is best for the community, but alas, it's not the community's vote or even their opinion that matter, it is ultimately the opinion of the HOA/POA Board that comes into play.
