Description

In this episode I speak with Ultra X Co-founder Sam Heward. Sam started his career as an accountant in the City of London but like most people who have a passion for sport, careers dominated by office work are rarely satisfying.

Sam became hooked on ultra-marathons after completing his first long distance race - The Marathon des Sables - a mere 251km, 6 day race through the Sahara Desert. Soon after, Ultra X was born with his Co-Founder Jamie Sparks. Ultra X host ultra-marathons in stunning places all over the world, are working to reduce the barriers to participation and now host their own World Championships.

We talk about:

- The biggest challenges in ultra-marathon running.

- Why ultra-marathons are for everyone, not just elite athletes.

- How Ultra X have manoeuvred through the pandemic to make their community stronger than ever.
