Insurance agencies label a natural disaster as an act of God that describes an “unusual, extraordinary, sudden, and unexpected, manifestation of the forces of nature which man cannot resist.” The phrase “act of God” is unfortunate because it places the blame of natural disasters as something God has decided to do. The idea that God is sending natural disasters to our planet has significant consequences in explaining the goodness of God. Is God to blame for every natural disaster on the planet?
