On Today’s Friday Film Feature, Claudia and Victor review Philadelphia (1993), Starring Tom Hanks, and Andrew Beckett who is wrongfully terminated for having HIV and Aids. Denzel Washington co-stars as Joe Miller, and ambulance chaser lawyer, whom Andrew hires to represent him in court. Rounding off the cast is Jason Robards, as Charles Wheeler, the main law partner, Mary Steenburgen, as the firm’s defence council, and Antonio Banderas, as Miguel Alvarez, Andrew’s partner and lover. Philadelphia won several Oscars, most notably for Best Actor for Tom Hanks, and Best Song, Streets of Philadelphia by Bruce Springsteen. this movie was a masterwork of artistry and grace with very few shortcomings.
