LCC’s Discipleship Minister Daniel Koch concludes the series “Our House” with a message about the importance of being surrounded by a Jesus-minded community. As we learn from the book of Daniel, our faith will be tested, and having the support of fellow believers can help us to stand firm, no matter what.
“Every day it seems like the world surrounding us looks less and less familiar… and many days it feels like this house of ours (the church) does not belong in the neighborhood.”
“The more the world around us turns away from God… the more important a Jesus-minded community around you becomes.”
“Daniel resolved to honor God when his conscience demanded it. He took a stand for his faith where he had opportunity, but not only that, his friends ended up joining with him in his resolve. Daniel led the way in determining when enough was enough.”
“It’s so hard to know and determine, at what point do we say ‘I just can’t go along with this anymore?’ The reality is, many of us are coming closer to those moments of decision, and if you don’t have a plan of knowing where that line is, I’m afraid that when that time comes it will be easier to just cross over.”
“Satan is crafty, and he often plays on Christians’ desire for compassion and goodwill to seduce them into compromise.”
“Surrounding yourself with a Jesus-minded community instills courage to stand firm. It’s so much easier to stand firm when other people are doing that with you.”
“There may come a day when your faith is called to account, and knowing that you have a Jesus-minded community that has your back, to carry you through whatever fallout might occur, is so important.”
“There may be days when you are the one that’s needed to provide courage to someone else.”
