About Gabriel Akre: He is a sculptor currently based in Florence, Italy. He is inspired by the Classical period, the Renaissance, and the great French academics of the 19th century. He uses the figure as his subject and his work aims to capture that life-giving quality that exists between Creator and creation. He endeavors to capture an individual person undergoing a unique, yet universal, human experience. He does this by working from life and actively studying expression and emotion. He believes that the human body reveals the human soul, therefore he observes from nature the infinite varieties within each individual.
