Every year scientists are finding out more and more about poop and how important it is in our lives. What better way to share these poop revelations with you than during Poop Month’s TIS! First on the list is poop transplant, or fecal microbiota transplants, which is being studied for the treatment of bacterial infections and gastrointestinal conditions. Next, we discuss how ancient poop is different from contemporary poop, and what this means for our gut microbiome. And stay tuned until the end, when we answer the question, ‘Is farting indicative of the need to poop?

TLDR: Poop transplant, or fecal microbiota transplant, is highly effective in treating certain bacterial infections and has been used in other gastrointestinal conditions. Methods of transplant include colonoscopy, enema, nasogastric tubes and swallowing pills containing a stool preparation.
