This is a song about a lesbian girl, she is trying to come to terms with her sexuality but feels pressured to be what is often idealised to be “perfect”. She continues to deny this fact over and over, trying to convince herself she is not gay. This song was originally written by Joriah Kwamé, however it was sung by Taylor Louderman, Taylor most often gets credit for writing this and I would like to acknowledge that though she provides the incredible vocals (please listen to them here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VhZIikh-z7g) If you are listening to this with your child, I would recommend explaining the meaning of the song to them, as it can be quite confusing, especially if they are young.
