The Inspector General of Police IGP Kayode Egbetokum shortly after assuming office last year launched Special Intervention Squad (SIS), to tackle the security challenges across the country. The SIS, a standby team of specially trained officers to rapidly intervene in major incidents. Towards the end of 2023, the IGP announce the take-off of the SIS in Ten pilot states, already identified based on the violent crime assessment carried out then in all the Thirty-six states of the Federation and the FCT, while the other Twenty seven states to follow later.
