Description

Independent schools can open up a world of opportunity and careers for students of color-but what about creative careers? On today’s episode, we chat with designer and indy school alum Mapate Diop about his path from attending Riverdale Country School to launching the streetwear brand DIOP.

Mapate Diop is a Detroit-based fashion designer who has raised more than $100,000 for social-justice causes and COVID-19 relief efforts through the sale of his company’s batik-printed masks. He articulated with us about his independent school experience, West African-inspired clothing line, and the importance of community.

For all things DIOP, go to www.wearDIOP.com to see Diop and other interesting people who stand for something and love the brand. Plus check out the new merch!
