This is part two of our series "Ready or Not: Being Jesus' Witnesses," and this week we are looking at the birth of the Church. Luke records in concise verses the origins of the Church when the day finally came for the Holy Spirit to descend upon the small band of Jesus' followers. The disciples of Jesus were waiting in Jerusalem for the manifestation of the promise Jesus spoke to them before His ascension, and once the Holy Spirit arrives, we get a glimpse into the primary activity the Holy Spirit intends to empower the disciples to do: the proclamation of the gospel.
