Perhaps you’ve familiar with the prevailing theory that the Ten Commandments can be neatly divided between the first four and the remaining six? That as you make your way down the ‘Big Ten’ there is a momentum shift part way through where the language seems to pivot from talking about our relationship with God to talking about our relationships with our neighbor.
If that’s the case, what better ‘neighbor’ to start with than with the ‘neighbors’ who produced us… The first neighbors, most of us, ever knew… Our parents. This morning we're exploring and talking about the first humans we are meant to honor: our parents.
