Pastor Taylor Shippy - Mark 6:45-52, 9:2-8
The more I read these two stories the more I see the Transfiguration happening not only on top of a mountain but also amidst a storm at sea. It's almost like we a Transfiguration appear at on ground-level not just above in the heavens where one expects to find God. God can be found in the chaotic storm... It’s as if you overlay the two stories on top of one another we see Jesus trying to accomplish the same exact thing except in two vastly different sets of circumstances. And, could it be, whether it's atop a summit or amidst a stormy sea, Jesus is communicating that He is the same Ego Eimi in both places? In both circumstances? Whether rain or shine? Despite what the circumstances seem to be, it can’t change the reality that Jesus is Ego Eimi, the Great I AM.
