Description

Welcome back to 40 days with Christ, a daily scripture based encouragement from the life of our Lord Jesus!  Always to the point! Always under 5 minutes in length. Let's start off with a word of Prayer.

Father, We thank You for blessing us with every spiritual blessing in the Heavenly places in Christ Jesus your Son.

And it is in your son Jesus’ name we pray. Amen!

Mark chapter 4 has some small little parables which contains magnificently large and significant meanings. Today will be the shortest scripture reading in our 40 day series so far.

30 Again he said, “What shall we say the kingdom of God is like, or what parable shall we use to describe it? 31 It is like a mustard seed, which is the smallest of all seeds on earth. 32 Yet when planted, it grows and becomes the largest of all garden plants, with such big branches that the birds can perch in its shade.”

I’ve got two questions for you.

First, have you ever seen a single Mustard Seed? Well, magnified images on the internet - (I know you’re looking it up right now!) - do not do its small size justice for its actually about one to two millimeters in diameter!

How small is that? If you have a dime in your pocket or perhaps your piggy bank, pull out that dime and look at it. Not the wide part, the narrow part. A mustard seed’s diameter is about one-tenth as large as the size of that short edge of the dime. Now THAT is a tiny seed!

Second, have you ever seen a mustard plant?

Well, based on the geography, Jesus was probably talking about the black mustard seed which grows into rolling fields of splendid yellow flowers with a plant height ranging from 2 to 8 feet.

Jesus says the kingdom of God is just like that tiny little seed that gets planted and then becomes tall enough provide shade even for birds!

The message of Jesus isn’t overly complicated or ostentatious. But it takes root when planted and grows amazingly within the hearts, minds, and souls of men and women everywhere.

Lets pray,

Lord God,

You can take the smallest of seeds and turn it into a beautiful and thriving mustard plant. We know that no matter how tiny or insignificant we may seem or be on our own, that You are more than capable of using us for Your glory. In fact, Your glory can become even more evident when You take something small and make something big from it! When we are weak and are depending upon You, may your strength be made all the more known and all the more exalted!

We ask this in Jesus name. Amen!

Thanks for sharing some of your day with me. I hope the rest of your day is very very good. Take care and Lord willing, I’ll see you again tomorrow for day 9 of our ongoing series, 40 days with Christ!
