In today’s world, it seems like everyone’s obsessed with size—especially churches. The bigger the congregation, the more successful the church, right? Not so fast. Just because your church is bursting at the seams doesn’t mean it’s spiritually healthy. In fact, focusing too much on getting more bums on seats might just mean you’re growing a flock of spiritual toddlers who think “epistle” is something you order at a café. So, if you’re a church leader, next time you’re tempted to count heads, remember this: a big church isn’t always a better church. Focus on making disciples who can handle more than just a catchy sermon series. Because in the end, it’s not the size of the church that matters—it’s the size of the faith inside it.
