Dana Johnson

·  23 year veteran police officer

o Dana has been in the Research and Development Division as a project officer writing policies for the last 16 years.

o  As a policy writer my main goal is to take what the legal department needs to keep the department out of liability and make it understandable for the members of the department.

o  Accomplishments include numerous violent crime arrests, taught critical incident training (NIMS and ICS) for 2 years, received the marksman award, physical fitness award too many times to count, several official letters of commendation, letters of appreciation, etc.

o  Loves to mentor new recruits and women when they come onto the department.

o  Would like to move into Recruitment for the Department when the budget is better.

·  Outside of work

o  Grew up in a small town in Iowa.

o  Volunteered for a couple non-profits. Veterans4Life Chapter Chairperson where I met Jeremy and Rachel and also currently sitting as the Board Secretary for Youth RISE (a non-profit that serves at-risk youth)

o  Avid health and fitness person. Just started training for the Bike MS in September. Will complete my 4th century ride (100 miles) with Team Biscari Brothers. In 2019 we raised $65,000 estimated for MS Society for research to help cure MS one day.

o  Divorced mom of two, one still in school and one in college.

o  Currently working to attain my bachelor’s degree in Business Administration - Human Resource Management.

o  Hopefully in the next year and a half will be starting a Doctorate of Physical Therapy program to attain a doctorate degree and then retire and start my own practice.

·  Fun Facts

o  I don’t eat donuts as often as one would think

o  I crochet

o  DIY’er-remodeled/renovated 80% of my own home.

o  Love to cook

o  Can sew…

o  I was once locked in a trunk of a vehicle in the middle of July with my older brother and almost died.

o  My older brother put me and my younger brother in the dryer and turned it on. Funny when you aren’t the one in the dryer….
