Description

In this first episode of Endure: The Athlete's Story, I speak to Con Doherty, an elite Irish ITU triathlete. Con tell us about his bronze medal in the junior world championships in 2012 and how he was the youngest ever podium athlete at a world junior champs at just 17 years old. We discuss the future of Irish triathlon and how they may have fallen short in the past with guiding their young athletes to world class level. Con tells us how along with his two brothers, Ethan and Aaron, they completed a backyard ironman challenge in world record time to raise awareness and money for Pieta House, an Irish suicide prevention and self harm charity which you can find details of their website below. We also talk about Cons goal of going to compete in the olympics in Paris 2024 and his love for Superleague racing. Interestingly Con also studies Product Design at the university of limerick and is currently focused on shoe design, so of course we got into the latest shoe technology and what it means for sport.
