Around this time of year, many pastors and facebook memes will say "Remember the reason for the season!" This reason being Jesus and the celebration of his birth. This is an important thing to remember during this Christmas season, but, it is also important to remember this throughout all of our lives! Remember the reason you even have physical life and eternal life is through God and His Son Jesus! But I have noticed that MANY people, including myself have made so much of our lives about ourselves than about Jesus Christ. This is something that is not always easy to spot, but once you listen to this sermon, I hope that you can see, as I did, all of the times in my life where God became second in my life, and myself first. In this sermon I briefly exegete Isaiah 53, which is the clearest prophecy about the suffering Messiah in all of the Old Testament. And, as we look at the detailed example of Jesus and how he put God and us before his own self, we see the clearest example of a truly selfless person!
