Sometimes many of us death grip the steering wheel that directs our parenting journey. We are inclined to micromanage our roles and the impact we have with our children. Sometimes it's ok to be ok for a season. Sometimes it isn't always about areas we need to improve. Sometimes we can afford to let ourselves off the hook and focus on areas where we are crushing it. However, there are staples of fatherhood that are non-negotiable and should be absolutely unwavering. I believe these 4 quadrants of fatherhood are the foundation to our job description, and can significantly benefit not only your children, but generations that follow. 1. SPIRITUAL LEADER OF HIS HOUSEHOLD
The spiritual leader of a household is both a student and a teacher of truth in God’s word.
He upholds the sanctity of honor and nobility in obedience and submission to the Lordship of Jesus Christ.
He chooses the way of both the lion and the lamb, the priest and the patriarch.
He serves more than he is served.
He consistently leads the family in prayer and other spiritual disciplines like reading the word and serving others.
2. ANCHOR OF STABILITY FOR HIS CREW
The anchor of the family stabilizes during moments of chaos and turmoil.
He maintains grace and wisdom when making decisions on behalf of the crew.
He is not easily agitated or confrontational during volatile and potentially kinetic circumstances.
The anchor is well grounded and has established solid footing that is unwavering from values and standards.
The anchor is unshakable despite external forces or an unstable climate.
3. KING AND PROVIDER OF HIS CASTLE
The King is the guardian of his garden
He provides adequate resources for his family
He is a diligent and faithful steward of his time, talent, and treasure.
He delegates responsibility to those who dwell in the castle.
The King exhibits righteous intentions and speaks words of encouragement and wisdom.
4. WARRIOR AND PROTECTOR OF HIS TRIBE
The warrior runs toward danger
He claims dominion over his land and defends at all costs.
He also equips others to defend themselves.
He is always aware of enemies or threats to his tribe.
The warrior continuously sharpens his sword and his skills for battle.
He is unwavering in his courageous and relentless pursuit of justice and freedom.
He lives by, and enforces, core standards, values, and principles that honor God and his tribe.
The warrior stands in the gap spiritually and physically for those he defends and protects.
