Native American beliefs attribute spiritual significance to the Grand Canyon, with stories of sacred sites and ancestral spirits.

Haunted locations in the park include the El Tovar Hotel, where the ghost of Fred Harvey is said to appear, and Phantom Ranch, where the spirits of a young Native American girl and a ranger named Reese Griffith are reported.

Various canyons along the South Rim, such as Transept Canyon and Hermit Canyon, are also believed to be haunted by ghostly figures.
