Dr. Marianna Kunow is an ethnographer/ethnobotanist who has studied the culture and traditions of the modern Maya people and their medicinal uses of nature in the surrounding area. Her work in Yucatan, Mexico, produced the published book Maya Medicine: Traditional Healing in Yucatan, which intimately details a sample of curers, plants and herbs, and social structures through expertly conscious text and rendered sketches. Dr. Kunow teaches Spanish and mythology with the Department of World Languages and Cultures at Southeastern Louisiana University.
