Description

Every year about this time, I get questions from people who have not known us as long or as well, but do know we are a large, fairly conservative homeschooling family. The questions typically go a little something like, "Do you guys do anything for Halloween?"

In the interest of full disclosure on the front-end, I will say that I do not personally feel strongly about Halloween one way or another. Watching Tim Taylor on Home Improvement growing up, we will never go that far or care that much. But neither are we the stodgy kind who believe this holiday is entirely of the Devil.

Frankly, I could hardly care less one way or another.

But that means I could just as happily carve a pumpkin and watch a suspenseful movie while wearing a costume and eating some candy as I could not do anything whatsoever on October 31st.

This year, though, I am a bit curious to learn more about the history and origins of the holiday. So let's take a look together at the Wikipedia entry, shall we?
