The satirical, US based news outlet The Onion reused an article over 20 times since 2014, making only slight changes to the dates and location. It sounds like lazy journalism (and trust me, I would know) until you see the headline "'No Way To Prevent This,' Says Only Nation Where This Regularly Happens" with a picture of a school, place of worship or a grocery store. If you're American, that context alone was likely enough to figure out that this article is about mass shootings.
This episode we're doing a deep dive into mass shootings and why America seems to be uniquely stricken with them. We'll look at the real world circumstances, misinformation and conspiracies that surround these tragic, and yet predictable, events.
