With the advancement towards the social media wasteland that is the internet today, fandoms have entered a state of societal singularity. Fandoms have become larger and more accessible than ever before. On paper, this reads as a good thing. People are able to be more easily connected with other like minded individuals, and dialogues regarding their favorite characters should be as clear and frequent as ever. If this is the case, though, then why does it seem like so many fandoms are so toxic?
