In this episode, I hang out with Angie Lese. Angie is a drummer, Tarot reader, and previously a meteorologist. She talks about her journey going from meteorologist to rock n roller. A can basher, who learns from listening, and drawn to the live show experience. Taking notes from lead singers and using that behind the kit. Her dream gig is to play drums for Alanis Morissette. Her dream venue to play is Red Rocks Amphitheatre. She’s a determined workhorse, who’s fun, and a team player. Going beyond the role of musician to manager, merchandiser, and career builder. She talks about the struggles of being a queer woman in the music industry. Overcoming setbacks, gatekeepers, and having a whatever it takes mindset. She’s played with artists like Raelyn Nelson Band, Taco Mouth, and The Dead Deads. Her advice to artists is to go out and find your tribe. Treat everyone with kindness and respect. Knowing the money will come if you are good at your craft and good to other people. Also send encouraging words to artists you like can go a long way. She has her own Foo Fighters cover band called Fingernails Are Pretty and an original band called Lips Speak Louder.
