In this episode, I hang out with Archie Summers. Archie is a singer/songwriter, and lover of random facts. He was introduced to music and the guitar through playing the song “In My Place” by Coldplay on expert mode in Guitar Hero. His formative years were spent writing with his first band called Ill Spector. Archie talks about doing tons of Cage The Elephant covers in elementary school, so much so that his teachers told him to pick other music haha. His writing routines are extremely casual, but he likes to consume massive amounts of random information. Picking up his guitar, strumming, and then immediately setting it down. Not overthinking it, saving the analytical and methodical side for later to finish the song. His advice for artists: Don’t try to be friends with people you don’t like. Know that it’s okay to chill and that you don’t have to grind all the time. Also don’t stress the creative process, and know your path. Influences like Cage The Elephant, Arcade Fire, MGMT, Death Gripes, Yves Tumor, binki, The Dare, brakence, The Microphones, Jane Remover, and Dead Air. Enjoy!
