In this episode, I hang out with Fauster. Fauster is an eclectic/experimental artist, multi-instrumentalist, and producer. He shares how he learned musical composition at an early age. By listening to music and then replicating what he hears in GarageBand to better understand song structure. “Playing the computer” as he likes to call it. He’s an avid fan of the 22 year old video game Super Smash Brothers Melee. Watching content on YouTube to playing it competitively online. As he says, “it’s like jazz.” Fauster likes to make music that he wants to listen to. Taking from many different genres to hear the blend he wants. One of his favorite venues is the Ryman 2. He recommends artists to go to shows. One for the inspiration. And two to meet people and be a part of the scene. Also don’t be afraid to reach out and set something up with people you want to work with. Influences like Miles Davis, Lil Wayne, Aphex Twin, Kanye West, Clifford Brown, Radiohead, MF Doom, and Animal Collective.
