In this episode, I hang out with Jess Awh. Jess is a singer, songwriter, and guitar player in her band Bats. When she's not making music she likes to draw. Jess has a background in musical anthropology and ethnomusicology. Specifically Native American heritage. Learn about her barefoot childhood, singing as her guiding light to the world, and exploring Magic Treehouse books. She describes her writing process, self-reflection, wild times on Megabus, and how part of her record Blue Cabinet was recorded in the back of her car. Tennessee has her heart, the sounds of train whistles means home to her. Influences like Imogen Heap, Lemonheads, the Kinks, Joanna Newsom, Paramore, Tim McGraw, Brad Paisley, Teenage Fanclub, and John Fahey. Enjoy!
