Listen

Description

In this episode, I hang out with June Rosewell. June is a singer, guitarist, events coordinator and music director at WRVU Vanderbilt, and lover of human centered design thinking. She empathizes the importance of relationships and interpersonal relationships. She talks about recording Mad World by Gary Jules in the studio when she was 3. Knowing then that she was destined to write sad music. She describes her involvement with setting up the Nashville Film Festival with Maslow's hierarchy of needs in mind. Listen to hear about her songwriting process, writing music as a journal entry, and how some of her songs came to her in her dreams. Being the music director at WRVU, she has to be responsible for knowing the new releases and new local releases. Staying ahead of the radar, looking for new music to showcase on the radio, and being inspired by the process. Musical influences like Angel Olson, Andy Shauf, Frank Ocean, King Tuff, Mac DeMarco, The Smiths, Lutalo, Big Thief, Packs, Faye Webster, Black Sabbath, and Alex G. Enjoy!
