Description

In this episode, I hang out with Juniper Eveleen. Juniper is a singer, songwriter, guitarist, fashionista, craftsperson, and is passionate about mental health. She creates whimsical, eclectic, raw, and provocative art, drawing on things that move her negatively, and using it as her diary. We talk about how comfort can be your worst enemy and self talk to get you moving towards something that'll make you grow. She shares the importance of creating a safe space in your home for your art, yourself, your thoughts, and your feelings. Also how it's okay to not know what you are doing and how that can be used to your advantage. Find out the cheat codes she uses to bedazzle her gloves. Goodwill is one of her favorite places for fashion inspiration, the dopamine hits she gets when exploring the bins are out of this world.  We talk about the temptation of hiding away in a hole, but knowing the only way through is by putting yourself out there. She recommends artists to experiment, be weird, and not be afraid to fail to find what resonates. Not being ashamed of former versions of yourself as you go through the process.

Influences like Mazzy Star, Elliot Smith, Liz Phair, Jeff Buckley, and Joni Mitchell. Other art influences like Jean-Michel Basquiat, Andy Warhol, and Jim Morrison.  Book influences like Just Kids by Patti Smith and Girl in a Band by Kim Gordon. Influential places like Goodwill, Turnip Green, and art shows. Enjoy!
