In this episode, I hang out with Lucy From The Internet. Lucy is a heady, idiosyncratic, and minimal mixed media artist, multi-instrumentalist, producer, and lover of overstimulation. Their art tends to be chaotic and repetitive, but seamless. They like to immerse people in a world where remaining a child, being curious, wondrous, and having an uninhibited nature is the norm. They talk about the importance of application and doing the work as the Stoics say. Living your life is doing the work. Observing your behavior and how that can affect your art. Part of their artistic process is writing about how they feel while the feeling is still there. They recommend artists to be themselves so they can stand out more easily. Also start looking into quantum computing. They like to create from a cinematic state by constructing environments of extreme stimulation. They’ve overcome challenges like self assurance and holding their self accountable so they can be happy and productive. Their favorite venue is The Basement East. 👩🎨 👨🎨 Influences like David Lynch, Frank Ocean, James Blake, The Rocket Summer, DC Talk, Audio Adrenaline, Underoath, Death Grips, Mr. Bungle, Adult Swim, and Lightning Bolt. Enjoy!
