In this episode, I hang out with Mighty Joe Nolan. Joe is a multifaceted singer/songwriter, painter, author, and guitarist. Joe’s recent book, *Nowville: The Untold History of Nashville’s Contemporary Art Scene*, explores the city’s art from the 1990s to 2015.
Joe approaches writing about art with passion, focusing only on what excites him and avoiding pieces that don’t inspire him. He believes writing about art he dislikes is a waste of time.
His creative process is eclectic, switching between music and painting as a way to refresh his perspective and avoid burnout. This playful approach keeps his artistry vibrant.
Joe draws inspiration from greats like Jean Cocteau, Bob Dylan, Neil Young, and Tom Petty. Enjoy!
