Description

In this episode, I hang out with Ryan Bigelow. Ryan is a singer/ songwriter, multi instrumentalist, and person who loves to “razz” the audience. Growing up adoring guitar shredders like Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. Ryan learned he had to overcome the need for there to be a guitar solo in every song. Now he plays “anti-solos.”  When he was younger, he loved dinosaurs, especially velociraptors. Listening, you’ll learn his songwriting process and what influenced his band Rig B’s latest record called “Now!”. Turning his acoustic writings into electric shoe gaze or “organized chaos” as he calls it. His favorite venue is Drkmttr Collective. Feeling as though he’s playing a home game when performing there. His advice for artists is to go to as many shows as possible and put yourself out there constantly. “Even when it’s raining on a Tuesday night, you haven’t eaten dinner, and your life’s all fucked up. Spend your last ten dollars and go to the show. You’ll feel like you are a part of something.” Influences like Stereolab, Duster, Modest Mouse, The Black Keys, My Bloody Valentine, Arctic Monkeys, Cage The Elephant, Foals, The XX, Pinback, Miles Davis, Dave Brubeck, Bill Evans, Gilberto Gil, and Gal Costa. Enjoy!
