When the sun and moon are both in Leo, it’s usually a sign of Love. Leo rules the heart so this is a time to bring out your heart energy, to focus on what opens your heart. Leo is also the natural ruler of the Fifth House, the fifth house is all about creativity, self-expression, children, romance, and affection.
Jupiter is in Aries at this time, and the way it’s aspecting the sun and moon is magnifying these themes of love and romance, joy, and passion.
Although there’s a lot of love energy flowing, this may be more about self love, showing kindness and love to ourselves more than it is about showing love to another person. And that’s because Jupiter in Aries is all about independence, doing things yourself, not relying on others.
So a journal prompt or something to consider around this Leo New Moon: where are you most motivated to bring out your independent streak?
Breathing breathwork will be huge at this time - taking deep breaths in and out of your heart space will feel really helpful and relaxing. Some powerful affirmations at this time are also related to sovereignty and self love. I Am, I exist and I will let my light shine.
Given that Leo is a fixed sign, if you have any natal planets, aspects or angles around 5 degrees of fixed signs - Leo, Aquarius, Taurus, Scorpio, you are likely to feel the energy of this Leo New Moon the most.
There’s actually a lot of activity, lots of planets in fixed signs - saturn, uranus, mars, sun, moon, mercury, north node, south node - all in fixed signs, so we have what’s called a Fixed Grand Cross. This essentially means the energy is potent when it comes to willpower for our beliefs, unity consciousness.
The way that Saturn is opposing mercury and squaring the triple conjunction gives us a hint that a lot of truth is coming to light, shocking truths, shocking insights; and these revelations will be happening quickly. They could appear on the news, or it could be brilliant ideas coming to you like a download.

I want to also call your attention to an astrological event happening a few days after the Leo New Moon - a rare triple conjunction in Taurus with Mars, Uranus, and the North Node all in Taurus. The exact triple conjunction will occur on July 31, Aug. 1 depending on where you are in the world.
But I want to flag this for you because this energy is hot. Intense. Explosive. It’s a once in a lifetime event. The last time this triple conjunction in Taurus occurred was around 324 BC, around the time of Alexander the Great, so like some ~2500 years ago.
Whatever happens around this time, whatever gets triggered by this triple conjunction is likely to have energetic ripple effects for decades if not centuries.
So what do we know about this triple conjunction energy? What can we expect?
Well, it’s likely going to feel like we are swimming or whitewater rafting in the rapids and there may be turbulence - feelings of chaos for a few months - at least until October, if not into 2023 because in October we’re going to have another round of eclipse season.
